This is the beginnings of my archive of Profiles In History Forrest J Ackerman lot 679 Metropolis Items. Metropolis was Forry's favorite movie as I am sure you are aware of. I hear that some lost footage has been discovered and that a German director is planning on producing an update. This lot contains a large amount of paper material, newspaper clippings, stills, Forry's Metropolis scrapbook #1, an 8mm version of the movie, some film programs, Japanese Souvenir Program from 1978 that Forry created, movie tie in books of the Thea Von Harbou original novel domestic and foreign, and a wooden lobby card reproduction that a fellow fan and I sent to Forry about 15 years ago as a gift for contributing to Stoner's Monster Mayhem fanzine. Some real oddities are a reproduction of the sheet music, the Readers Library photoplay, Michael Kaluta's illustrated edition of the book Metropolis (one is autographed to Forry), 2 slip case editions of the Kaluta book, 75th Anniversary limited edition Metropolis books (two are numbered, one is signed by Forry about two years ago)numerous magazines, postcards, etc. I hope to one day put include more detailed information and archive the stills rather than in a grouping. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at ackerfan@msn.com If you received any items from the Profile In History auction that took place please email me too.
Check out the photo gallery below. Can you spot FJA as Rotwang, the original still photo used for the FJA book Monster and Imagi-Movies, Count Dracula putting the bite on Maria (!!!).....

Another Forrest Ackerman Profiles In History auction winner lives across the pond in Manchester England! His name is Garry Watson. He won several framed pieces of artwork, Lon Chaney material (including an original Hunchback of Notre Dame Program!), and a souvenir book signed by many celebrities at the 1993 Famous Monsters of Filmland World Convention. He was kind enough to share this and gave permission for the photos to be included on this website. Imagine my suprise when he contacted me! Garry grew up watching classic horror on television and also has an affection for the original Outer Limits and Twilight Zone tv shows. He owns a complete set of those episodes on dvd. He also has a fascinating book collection of all kinds of film genres including of course classic horror as well as Chaplin, WC Fields, The Mark Brothers, Laurel and hardy, etc. Garry works as a movie projectionist now at an arthouse theater. Through this line of work he has met some people in the industry such as Quentin Tarantino. He also has met Guy Maddin, the Canadian film-maker.
Garry also has a signed copy of Lon of 1000 Faces from Forry to Lucy Chase Williams! Please enjoy looking at the pictures and notice all of cool autographs in the FM Con souvenir book that was given to Forry. Also of interest is an original pen and ink drawing of Chaney as the Phantom by Shamie. Thanks again for sharing Garry!
